Inadequate bone volume is a common finding in dental implant reconstruction. This session will review evidence-based procedures and minimally invasive approaches available to the oral and maxillofacial surgeon to perform horizontal ridge preservation and augmentation.

Topics will include “open” grafting, ridge expansion and horizontal ridge augmentation using particulate graft with GBR/tenting screws and tunneling techniques. Case presentations and technique videos will include discussion of cone beam computed tomography anatomic considerations, the role of barriers and biologics as well as materials utilized for the procedures.

There will be a refreshment break from 2:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

Review bone grafting principles, biology and healing.
Discuss indications and materials available for ridge augmentation as staged or simultaneous with implant procedures.
Use evidence-based surgical procedures, including open flap, minimally invasive and tunneling to perform horizontal ridge augmentation.
