Mark Hough, FASLA, is the University Landscape Architect at Duke University, where he is involved in all aspects of design, planning, historic preservation, and natural resource management on the Olmsted Brothers-designed campus. He is a frequent lecturer and a prolific writer, addressing issues associated with contemporary, historic, cultural, and urban landscapes. He has written for Landscape Architecture Magazine, Chronicle of Higher Education, Places Journal, Dumbarton Oaks, Planetizen, and numerous other publications. He is currently working on a book about the evolution of designed landscapes. In 2011, he was awarded the Bradford Williams Medal for excellence in writing about landscape.
