Originally from Lisbon, Ricardo graduated as a landscape architect from the University of Evora and holds a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley. He won the Hester Award for Ecological Democracy for his thesis project in Quito and afterwards taught full time in Ecuador. Ricardo has been a guest lecturer at several universities in Latin America and helped develop the curriculum of two Master's programs in Landscape Design. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro focusing on the role of landscape architecture to increase resiliency to the impacts of climate change.
