More than 30 years have passed since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law. How is it that mistakes are still being made? With plenty of photographs and real-life examples, the presentation will focus on common errors in accessibility that field inspectors see across the country.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will understand a brief history of the ADA and how after more than 30 years, it is still a challenge to reach full compliance.
Participants will understand what types of projects are required to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and what liability
designers carry for compliance.
Participants will be able to identify common accessibility design and construction mistakes and learn to design with accessibility in mind.
Participants will be exposed to the legal side of non-compliance through a few recent court case examples where a judge interprets the designers' intent.
