Do streetscape innovations born during the pandemic serve all communities equitably? This session explores whether streetscape wellness tools -- open streets, retail/restaurant extensions, expanded micro-mobility lanes, etc. actually serve communities where economic drivers challenge conventional strategies for wellness in the public realm.

Learning Outcomes:

Learn about the New York City Streetscapes for Wellness research and documentation project
Examine the overlapping complexities of designing in the public realm during and after the COVID-19 pandemic
Explore the collaborative, community-led design response initiatives that responded to city needs during the pandemic
Discover how some of these temporary elements can be permanently implemented to create a healthier, more equitable and more inclusive future streetscape
