Drawing on the landscape architecture profession’s aspiration to claim greater agency in the climate discourse, there is an urgency to strengthen the leadership role that we, in collaboration with allied professionals, should take on. This includes external voices from media and government explore narratives beyond traditional scopes and reveal opportunistic models of collaboration.

Learning Outcomes:

Discover the current pulse of planning and design professionals on the issues of climate change through their professional realities, and learn about their collective aspirations to act.
Learn how the input of planning and design played an important role in developing an overarching resilience strategy for Mexico City’s 22+ million city.
Understand the different narratives related to climate change and discover who the key players are from political leaders to local communities
Explore opportunities for alternative collaborations and alliances to address issues of climate change through the presented narratives and understand their relevance for potential initiatives put forward by the incoming government.
