Swine Research Technician

Jennifer Young, PhD, is currently the Swine Research Technician at North Dakota State University. She received her B.S. in Animal Sciences and B.A. in Religious Studies from North Carolina State University in 2007. While at NC State, she interned at both the USDA Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, NE and PIC in Franklin, KY (now Hendersonville, TN). After completing her bachelors degrees, she moved to Iowa to complete her PhD program at Iowa State University under the guidance of Dr. Jack Dekkers. The title of her dissertation is "The effect of selection for residual feed intake during the grow/finish phase of production on feeding behavior traits and sow reproduction and lactation efficiency in Yorkshire pigs." After defending her dissertation in December 2012, she continued on as a post-doctoral fellow at ISU, continuing her work on the residual feed intake swine project. She accepted the Swine Research Technician position at NDSU and started in January of 2014.
