Allison Renwick was raised in Simsbury, Connecticut and attended North Carolina State University where she recieved her B.S. in Animal Science with a minor in Genetics in May 2018. She became involved in research in March 2017 as an undergraduate student worker for Dr. Casey Nestor. Dr. Nestor's lab focuses on the mechanisms by which neurons are involved in energy balance and reproduction. She continued her education at North Carolina State University as a graduate teaching assistant and graduate research assistant. The research for her thesis involved evaluating expression of kisspeptin and neurokinin B (two reproductively relevant hypothalamic neuropeptides) following chronic undernutrition (negative energy balance). She received her M.S. in Animal Science in July 2020 and began a PhD in Comparative and Experimental Medicine at the Univeristy of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in August 2020 under the direction of Dr. Brian Whitlock. Her focus remains on the regulation of reproduction, appetite, and metabolism and has expanded to include inflammation along with the interaction among these systems in ruminants.
