Dr. Sunday O. Peters is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Science, Berry College, Mount Berry, GA where he teaches Genetics of Domestic Animals, Introduction to Animal Science, Poultry Systems and Management and Swine Systems and Managenement. He was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Animal Science and at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. Prior to that, he was Senior Lecturer in the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria where he taught courses in Introductory Genetics, Animal Breeding, and Methods of Animal Experimentation at the undergraduate level. He also taught courses in Genetics and Animal Biotechnology, Quantitative Genetics and Stock Improvement to graduate students. He holds a PhD in Quantitative Genetics and Animal Breeding and obtained a second PhD in Molecular Biology from New Mexico State University, Las Cruces. His current research focuses on identification and characterization of genes underlying the genetic architecture of fertility, epigenomics and genomic prediction in livestock production. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed articles and has contributed over 85 papers and abstracts to national and international conferences in the past 16 years. He is a Fulbright Fellow and holds membership in the International Society of Animal Genetics, American Society of Animal Science, International Biometric Society and many other professional associations.
