Napo Vargas Jurado is a postdoctoral research associate in the department of Animal Science at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. He is native of Ecuador. Napo Vargas Jurado got his undergraduate degree from Escuela Politécnica del Ejército (The Army University) in Ecuador, attended Virginia Tech where he obtained his Master's degree in Animal and Poultry Science and obtained a double major Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in Animal Science and Statistics. Napo is currently working on various sheep projects in collaboration with the U.S. Meat and Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska and the U.S. Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois, Idaho. His main interests include statistical tools for genomic prediction and developing strategies to incorporate crossbred data into routine genetic evaluation in sheep.
