Becca Grimes is a graduate student at West Texas A&M University, obtaining her Master's degree in Animal Science under Dr. Ty Lawrence. In addition to her graduate assistantship, Becca is employed with the Beef Carcass Research Center as the Office Manager and Meat Laboratory. Becca travels continuously to beef harvest facilities collecting third-party carcass data for a variety of consumers in addition to fabricating beef, pork and lamb to retail cuts for the retail storefront. Becca is currently working on her Master's thesis, which is a meta-analysis of the extensive carcass database of over one million head of cattle that has been collected since 1992. In addition to academia, Becca is heavily involved in mentoring younger students through her role as the coach of the 2021 Meat Science Quiz Bowl Team and through assisting the meats judging program. Following her graduation next year, Becca plans on pursuing a Ph.D. in Ruminant Nutrition in hopes of one day becoming a production consultant or research coordinator for the beef industry.
