Dr. Tirado completed his medical training at the University of Texas Houston Health Sciences Center and a Master’s in Public Health in Community Health Promotion at the University of Texas School of Public Health. Dr. Tirado completed a residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas. While in residency, Dr. Tirado was awarded a National Research Services Award (NRSA) and completed a clinical research fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Centers of Studies on Addiction.
Dr. Tirado is founder of CARMAhealth, an integrated primary care and psychiatry practice in Austin, Texas. Dr. Tirado’s recent work has been in the area of peer-assisted recovery support (MAP Health Management), medical devices for substance use disorders (Soberlink and Spark Biomedical), expansion of telehealth for substance use and psychiatric disorders, and development of reimbursable Collaborative Care models for addiction in primary care.
