Dr. Gilbert is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, an assistant professor of small animal orthopedics and sports medicine, and co-director of the Comparative Orthopedics Laboratory at Washington State University. He graduated from the University of Queensland, Australia, in 1991, and became a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in small animal surgery in 2003. He completed a combined residency/MVetSc at the University of Saskatchewan in 2009 and stayed on as faculty for four years after his residency was completed. His research interests include biomechanics, EMG, chronic tendinopathies, the effects of topical analgesics on chondrocytes, and arthroscopy training. Dr. Gilbert’s clinical interests include arthroscopy, management of ligament and tendon injuries, fracture management, and joint replacement.
