Dr. Horstman is the owner and chief of staff of the Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center. He grew up in Nebraska and received his veterinary degree from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Georgia, a surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, and an orthopedic fellowship at Iowa State University. He started his small animal surgical residency at Mississippi State University in 2003. Here he refined his surgical skills, completed the requirements for board certification, and obtained a master’s degree in veterinary medicine while writing a thesis on the use of radiofrequency in animal joints. After completing his residency, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. He joined the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center (LVVSC) as a staff surgeon in 2006. He acquired board certification and became a Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2007. While at LVVSC he helped expand the facility from a surgical center to a large, multi-specialty center. In 2014, he completed an MBA through the University of Phoenix. In the fall of 2015, Dr. Horstman moved home to Nebraska to open the Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center. This is Nebraska's first and only small animal orthopedic exclusive hospital that features three full-time surgeons and one part-time surgeon. Sirius Vet has become a regional orthopedic facility serving clients from Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Missouri.
