In this seminar, participants will review mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Evidence for resistance pressures in large animal medicine will be presented. Antibiotic selection and use can be a cause of disagreement amongst clinicians. An objective look at antibiotic decision making will be presented to encourage evidence based selection of antibiotics for clinical scenarios. This seminar will review antibiotic classes, patient factors, and environmental pressures that direct best practices in antibiotic selection.
