The objective for this seminars are to acquaint the small animal practitioner with advanced soft tissue surgeries that can be performed in general practice. Topics focus on abdominal surgery and include common urinary, gastrointestinal, and laparoscopic procedures amenable to performance in a primary practitioner setting. Lecturers will describe the indications for procedures, pre-operative diagnostic imaging and evaluation, the steps of each procedure, and postoperative care. Presentations during the seminars will focus specifically on tips to follow on how to avoid pitfalls associated with these surgeries and what are the principles to be applied during each step of the preoperative evaluation, the operation, and the postoperative care.
