Katherine Preston, ENV SP currently serves as Director, Aviation Environmental Servoices, for the environmental and transportation planning firm HMMH. Katherine has extensive experience in aviation environmental management, policy, sustainability, climate, government affairs and project management with a focus on the airport industry. Katherine also manages the Sustainability and Energy practice area, specializing in sustainability planning, quality of life assessments, renewable energy, carbon reporting and management, and community engagement. Prior to HMMH, Katherine served as the Senior Director of Environmental Affairs at Airports Council International. Katherine has experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives with hundreds of participants through the ACI-NA Environmental Affairs Committee and technical working groups comprised of airport and industry professionals.
In addition to conducting research as Principal Investigator or contributor on a number of ACRP projects while at HMMH, Ms. Preston has served as an industry liaison on over eighteen ACRP project panels, overseeing research on a range of environmental topics. While at ACI-NA she also managed the implementation of the Airport Carbon Accreditation program in the U.S. and Canada from 2014-2017.
Other past positions include Government Affairs Specialist at The Boeing Company, and Congressional Affairs and Member Relations at the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Katherine received her M.S. degree in Environmental Science and Policy at The Johns Hopkins University and her B.A. degree in Political Science with a concentration in international relations from the University of Florida.
