Mrs. Katie Mowat is a second-year master’s student in environmental engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She received a Bachelor of Science in engineering (civil) from Walla Walla University and was presented with the Engineer of the Year award. Katie is a member of ASCE, SWE, SWANA, WEF, A&WMA, and EWB. Her research is on the treatment of Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs) from dry-mill ethanol plants using bio-trickling filters. Katie is also interested in wastewater and water treatment and engineering education research. She loves spending time with people, being involved in clubs and organizations, and helping to build communities of openness and productivity. When she is not in class or doing research, Katie can be found baking and cooking for people or spending time with her husband Andrew and their pet cat named Mouse.
