South Coast AQMD
Bhaskar Chandan joined the South Coast AQMD in 2001 and is currently a Senior Air Quality Engineering Manager in the Refinery Permitting team.
Bhaskar has over 30 years of experience in the Air Quality/Air Pollution Control field. Prior to joining South Coast AQMD, Bhaskar worked for 12 years with private companies involved in source testing, consulting and engineering. He has Process Engineering and Project Management experience in air pollution control, and has implemented several NOx and VOC control projects. In his current capacity, Bhaskar manages a team of permitting engineers responsible for implementing air quality regulations for the local Refineries and Bulk Loading Terminals. He has also managed teams of engineers responsible for the permitting of Power Plants and Waste Management facilities.
Bhaskar has been an active A&WMA member for over 20 years. He has served as the Director-at-Large for the A&WMA’s West Coast Section 2012-2019, Chair for the West Coast Section 2019-2020, and Chair for the Technical Tours Committee 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibition in Long Beach, CA. He currently serves as the past-Chair of the West Coast Section.
Bhaskar received his Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India, and his Master’s in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) and a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP).
