Mingming Lu, Professor, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Univ. of Cincinnati. Her research specialty area is “air quality and alternative energy”. Her air quality research included acid rain modeling, mechanistic study of pollutant formation in combustion, diesel particulate characterization, VOC characterization, air pollutant measurements using portable instruments and sensors, and air quality data analysis, with funds from NIOSH, NSF, ODOT, etc.. Her expertise in making biodiesel from waste feedstocks (waste cooking oil, spent coffee grounds and trap grease) was supported by the US EPA, research contracts, NSF grants. She has also been involved in technology commercialization in recent years. Since 2006, she has mentored many K6-12 STEM teachers, and undergraduate students through air quality and alternative energy research.
Dr. Lu is an active AWMA member, serves as the chair of the Resource Conservation Committee under the Sustainability and Resource Conservation Divisoin and also actively involved in the EAC committee. She has been the faculty adviser of the student chapter of AWMA since 2015.
