Gita Bhandari received her MPH Degree in Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of South Florida (USF) Tampa, Florida in 2015. Bhandari was a former Plant Science graduate from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Bhandari is currently working with Leidos as a Research Scientists at the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Pittsburgh, PA.
Her background includes experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and biotechnological lab techniques. She also has experiences on research, field work, data collection, data entry, and analysis using statistical tools such as GIS, SAS, Excel, Access, OneNote, etc. Her lab work experiences includes GCMS, PCR, Electrophoresis, bacterial culture, antibacterial tests, fungi isolation and identification, etc.
Bhandari began her career at NETL from 2019 where she is working as a research scientists on a project entitled “Methane Emissions from Metering and Regulating Stations” under the supervision of Dr. Natalie Pekney. Before joining NETL, she worked remotely as a contract Data Analysts at Nabison Enterprises LLC, Tampa, Florida where she was supporting the medical clinics and was responsible for analyzing the data, finalizing the report, and doing power point presentation using Microsoft office. During her graduate studies, she was a Student Assistant at the Department of Epidemiology, at USF where she created and managed database using Microsoft Access as well as a statistics tutor where she tutored the undergraduate statistics students for problem-solving. On the first week of March, 2014, she went to Haiti for a water treatment project as a team leader, where she was responsible for identifying different sources of drinking water, creating a map of the area using GIS, collecting drinking water samples, testing for E. coli, performing SODIS treatment, analyzing the data, and report writing.
