Graduate Student
North Carolina State University
Brandon Lewis attended NC State University from 2013-2020, where he received his bachelor's degree in Meteorology (with a minor in mathematics) and master's degree in Atmospheric Science and developed an exciting interest in geospatial studies (with a graduate certificate in GIS). Currently, he is an incoming PhD Student at Yale University. He has worked as a researcher at the NC State Climate office, established networks and conducted research abroad in Botswana, and has received awards such as such as the AWMA ACE Scholarship Award and the Central NC Chapter of the American Meteorological Society Award. He is a NOAA NCAS-M Fellow and a GEM Fellow. Because he enjoys science and learning about new topics, he has an interdisciplinary and extensive background in meteorology and air quality. Outside of academia, he spends time with communities as an advocate in environmental, climate, and energy justice, working with groups like the NC Environmental Justice Network. This work led to his most current research on hog farms, air quality, and environmental justice which is highlighted in his research poster (check it out). After the long days of being a researcher, a student, and living life as an adult, he enjoys playing tennis recreationally and competitively, and uses music, singing and piano, to rejuvenate. He is grateful to everyone who has been a part of his journey to now and is appreciative for all of his mentors today.
