As vapor intrusion guidance continues to evolve so do the available assessment tools and manner in which they are adopted for use in the field. Some assessment tools are more readily accepted than others within the national regulatory community but one common thread tends to hold true, all data must be defensible. Air laboratories should consistently hold up their end of the bargain, by producing defensible data, however, that standard can be put in jeopardy depending upon how the air media is utilized in the field. The discussion will closely evaluate some of today's available assessment tools, potential pitfalls associated with sampling techniques and how those pitfalls may affect data quality.
