Resident
Children's Hospital Los Angeles
My name is Jordan Wlodarczyk and I am a General Surgery Resident in his third year at USC in Los Angeles. I am extremely interested in Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery and my career goals are to become a surgeon scientist in the realm of reconstructive medicine. My research background at this time includes multiple studies in the field of traumatology looking at limb salvage. I am looking to expand my research into the field of Plastics and Reconstruction because of the unique reconstructive skills that the field demonstrates. I have been granted time off after my second year to work with the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery Department to develop technology that will allow physicians to implant mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord Wharton's Jelly into a targeted area for enhanced differentiation into bone. This will allow for directed treatment of critical sized osseous defects that are congenital, surgically or traumatically created.
