Yoon-Sung (Teddy) is a 5th year PhD student in the Occupational Injury Prevention Research Training program, which is one of six academic research training programs in the Midwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety. He will defend his thesis in December of 2020. Yoon-Sung has pursued numerous community-engaged research studies focused on injury prevention and violence prevention among adolescents. Projects include a study of bullying prevention policies in schools, a project that measures stress and adverse childhood experiences among children of color in the Twin Cities Boys and Girls Clubs, and a trauma-informed care intervention study among children of color in schools across the state of Minnesota. Yoon-Sung is currently engaged in addressing work-related stress among law enforcement personnel as his dissertation study. Over the past year, he has joined the team researching repetitive movement injury patterns in oral and maxillofacial surgeons and is a key consultant on their scientific paper they are readying for publication.
