Demonstrating the safety of the OMS anesthesia model is mission critical in preserving and expanding the OMS practice model. The growth and disruption to the dental industry by DSOs may represent a unique historical opportunity to harness the assets of private equity with the specialty's core competency in ambulatory anesthesia. Such an opportunity could rapidly create digital treatment records on a wide population of surgical patients, denominating the history of safety and outcomes of the OMS model. Consolidation in every industry leads to the evolution of best practices. Clearly as the DSOs add specialty care, they will require more experience in a field that oral and maxillofacial surgery has pioneered. This session will review the results of how an app-based anesthesia record in combination with a centralized EHR in a DSO can yield a significant amount of outcomes data that can help shape the future of OMS practices. By working in collaboration with national companies, the ability to build a data base of anesthesia safety can be built more efficiently because of the centralization of a common informatics platform. Because all the information is digital, the outcomes reporting elements are inherently built into the surgical work flow.
