Dr. Deming, MD, PhD is an adult Infectious Disease fellow at the University of Maryland. She received her PhD at the University of North Carolina working with Dr. Ralph Baric on SARS Coronavirus (SARS-CoV), where she characterized antibody neutralization and mechanisms of SARS-CoV escape, and published on promising live attenuated strategies as well as limitations of traditional vaccine strategies that enhance rather than ameliorate disease. As an infectious disease research fellow, she has further explored vaccine responses in senescent and immunocompromised hosts. Current projects include respiratory virus vaccines (coronaviruses and influenza) and improving vaccine responses for immunocompromised hosts.
