Dr. Matt Shoemaker serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He completed his medical education at the University of Health Sciences-College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, MO in 2000. Dr. After his osteopathic internship at the Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City, he went on to complete his internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics. He has over ten years of experience in private practice. In conjunction with his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Shoemaker also served as vice president and chief medical officer at SoutheastHEALTH for five years. Dr. Shoemaker is also actively involved in many committees for the Missouri Department of Health: the Missouri Healthcare Associated- Infection Reporting Program Advisory Panel, Ryan White Clinical Advisory Committee. He also served on many committees at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He is a member of the Cape Girardeau County Area Medical Society, HIV Medical Association, Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, the American Society of Microbiology and the Missouri State Medical Association. Dr. Shoemaker as a specific interest in HIV prevention and treatment, pulmonary NTM, endemic mycosis, and tickborne infections. Dr. Shoemaker can be reached at dshoemaker2@kumc.edu
