I am an Infectious Diseases physician and a senior-level medical epidemiologist with over 21 years of experience at the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC) working in mission critical areas of the agency during transformational periods to protect and advance the health of the United States and the world.
I have been highly successful in creating and leading partnership-driven outbreak preparedness planning, responses to disease outbreaks, conducting written and oral scientific communications, developing national and international strategies and drafting public health policy. I have served in senior representative roles on behalf of CDC, the Dept of Health and Human Services, the United States Government, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and the Global Program to Eradicate Polio (GPEI). I have worked domestically and internationally with Ministries of Health in over 30 countries, primarily in Africa and Asia. Important themes throughout my career include service, mentorship, education, and diversity/equity/inclusion, areas in which I have actively engaged to strengthen my public health accomplishments.
I am an internationally recognized public health leader in areas of Outbreak Preparedness and Response, Global Health, Vaccine Science and Policy, Vaccine Finance, Global Polio Eradication, Ebola Outbreak Response and most recently COVID 19 Response.
