Dr. Julia E. Szymczak, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Szymczak is a medical sociologist who researches how the culture of medicine shapes the implementation of efforts to improve the quality of healthcare. Her current work focuses on understanding the social determinants of antibiotic prescribing and the sociobehavioral factors that shape clinician acceptance of antibiotic stewardship interventions.
