Alexandra Bhatti, JD, MPH, is the Associate Director of US Vaccine Public Policy Development, within the Global Vaccine Public Policy and Partnerships team at Merck & Co. Inc. Alexandra has been with Merck since January 2019 and leads the US vaccine policy development portfolio which includes leading the US policy research agenda, supporting strategy development and execution, and translation of research findings into meaningful tools to support vaccine policy efforts. Concurrently, Alexandra has been on faculty at Arizona State University, in the College of Health Solutions, since 2015, leading development and instruction of courses such as legal issues in healthcare and health care legislation. Prior to Merck, Alexandra was a public health attorney at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention within the Public Health Law Program. There she led the vaccination law research portfolio, covering an array of topics such as vaccine registry laws, school and childcare vaccination laws, healthcare worker vaccination laws, and state Medicaid policies, and more. Lastly, Alexandra began her public health career, post-grad school, at the Arizona Department of Health Services, where she first was a molecular biologist in the State Public Health Lab and then an Immunization Program Manager, leading programs such as the school and childcare program, IQIP formally known as AFIX program, and the adult immunization program. Alexandra holds her Juris Doctor, an MPH in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, and a Bachelors in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology.
