Olivia is an infectious diseases fellow in her final year at the University of Washington, as well as a Masters Degree candidate in Bioethics and Humanities. She conducts research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center under the mentorship of Dr. Catherine Liu and Dr. Steve Pergam. At IDWeek, Olivia is presenting the results of a study of antimicrobials at the end of life in patients with cancer and the role of advance directives in shaping subseqent antimicrobial use. Her other projects have included an ethical analysis of vaccine requirements for candidates for solid organ transplantation, a forthcoming special issue of the AMA Journal of Ethics on Ending the HIV Epidemic, and the University of Washington COVID-19 in Solid Organ Transplantation Registry, which she began with Dr. Ajit Limaye and Dr. Cindy Fisher. After fellowship, Olivia hopes to have an academic career combining her interests in immunocompromised host ID and bioethics.
