Christopher Polage is a physician, medical microbiologist, and clinical microbiology laboratory director at the Duke University Health System. He is an active C. difficile researcher, particulary in the area of diagnostic testing and correlation of test results and methods with clinical symptoms, outcomes, and need for treatment. His previous work highlighted the risk of test-related C. difficile overdiagnosis and need for diagnostic stewardship and test strategies to reduce overdiagnosis and better distinguish colonization versus infection.
