Emily A. Blumberg, MD received her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago and fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY. She is currently a Professor of Medicine and a member of the ID Division at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is the Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program and the Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases. She has held numerous leadership roles, including serving as the President of the American Society of Transplantation from 2019-2020, Chair of the IDSA Training Program Directors Committee from 2016-2019 and of the IDSA Medical Scholars from 2017-2019, Chair of the UNOS Disease Transmission Advisory Committee (2010-2012), past co-Chair of the HHS Advisory Committee on Blood and Tissue Safety and Availabliity, and current Chair of NIDDK Trialnet DSMB. She is a Deputy Editor for the American Journal of Transplantation, Associate Editor of Transplant Infectious Diseases, and Section Editor for UpToDate.
