Priya Nori, MD

Dr. Priya Nori is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She serves as Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) at the Montefiore Medical Center, and Program Director of the Infectious Diseases (ID) training program. She also directs the outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (OPAT) program under the Montefiore Care Management Organization.
Her primary academic focus is medical education and mentorship in ASP, Infection Prevention, and Emerging Infections. She leads ASP and ID educational initiatives throughout the medical center, and has pioneered programs to improve antibiotic prescribing at all levels. She is published in the area of educational curricula for stewardship and infection prevention, orthopedic infections, and novel diagnostic technology for rapid microbe identification. She also serves on the Infectious Diseases Society of America’s (IDSA) Subcommittee for Antimicrobial Stewardship Curricula, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America’s (CDC/SHEA) Outbreak Response Training Program Education Committee, the SHEA Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee, and is co-chair of the SHEA stewardship certificate track. She is also course director of IDSNY’s fellows course on stewardship, infection prevention, and hospital epidemiology. She was awarded ID fellowship “teacher of the year” in 2015, the Department of Medicine “rising star” award in 2017, and the Montefiore/Einstein "subspecialist teacher of the year" award in 2020. Under her leadership, Montefiore’s ASP was awarded the IDSA’s Stewardship Center of Excellence distinction in 2018. During the recent NYC COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nori specialized in empiric antiotic guidelines and bacterial/fungal co-infections in advanced COVID-19 patients.
