Dr. Sapna A. Mehta is Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Director of Transplant Infectious Diseases and Clinical Director of the NYU Langone Transplant Institute. Dr. Mehta completed her undergraduate studies in the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business at the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Economics and and BA in International Studies. She received her medical degree and completed her internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine followed by a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at NYU School of Medicine. In addition to her current administrative leadership roles at NYU, Dr. Mehta's clinical research in recent years has included leading NYU's participation in the HOPE in Action trials as site primary investigator facilitating HIV D+/R+ abdominal organ transplants and leading NYU's xenotransplantation infectious diseases protocols and preparedness. She is a coauthor on the recently publisehd AST Guidance on Infection and Clinical Xenotransplantation. Dr. Mehta is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and Co-Chair of the American Society of Transplantation's Infectious Diseass Community of Practice HIV Working Group. She enjoys clinical program development, diagnostic stewardship for immunocompromised hosts, and is active in NYU's Women in Medicine Leadership Circle.
