Elise Martin, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh and the Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. Dr. Martin attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA Health. She completed Infectious Diseases fellowship at UCLA where she also received a Masters in Clinical Research. Dr. Martin has completed research on contact precautions for MRSA and VRE, and is most interested in how we use personal protective equipment and isolation to decrease the spread of infections, while trying to maintain high quality patient care. Most recently, she is working on multiple quality improvement initiatives, including CAUTI prevention, CLABSI prevention, C diff diagnostic stewardship, contact precautions, and CHG bathing treatment. She also attends on the inpatient infectious diseases service at the VA.
