Timothy Kelly, MS, MBA is Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research at BD Urology and Critical Care. Prior to that, he served as Director of Marketing at Taylor Healthcare. Tim holds master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from Drexel University and in business administration from Mercer University. Tim has spent 25 years in the medical device and medical software industries at various firms including C.R. Bard, Inc., Dialog Medical, and Taylor Healthcare. He also spent two years as a Fellow with the Biomedical Engineering and Science Institute of Drexel University. Tim’s areas of interest include infection prevention, critical care medicine, endourology, and patient safety.
An avid researcher, Tim designs both randomized controlled trials, as well as real-world data analyses, that are constructed to evaluate the clinical and economic effects of various conditions and interventions. His 2020 IDWeek poster presented a 3-million patient analysis that explored the relationship between healthcare-associated urinary tract infection and subsequent Clostridioides difficile infection.
Tim is a member of SHEA, ISPOR, APIC, HIMSS, and MAPS. He is a frequent contributor to numerous publications, including Hospitals & Health Networks, Becker’s Hospital Review, Healthcare IT News, Government Health IT, and Medscape News. His most recent work was a real-world, retrospective analysis of 88,000 endourology procedures titled, “Frequency and timing of emergency department visits and hospital admissions in stented patients following common stone procedures,” and published in Urolithiasis in 2022. Tim has presented both podium sessions and posters at diverse national conferences, including IDWeek, APIC, HIMSS, ISPOR, AUA, ASHRM, IHI, and ACRP. He holds two U.S. patents.
