Amy Sherman, MD is an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard University and Associate Physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Dr. Sherman is an infectious diseases physician and researcher. Dr. Sherman obtained her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Medical Anthropology and attended medical school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Sherman then completed internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
Her primary research interests are in vaccinology and immunology, with a particular emphasis on influenza viruses. Dr. Sherman studied the effects of imprinting and repeated annual influenza vaccination on the host immune response to influenza immunization. She also served as a clinician researcher for various clinical studies, sponsors, and research groups, including NIH (DMID, DAIDS, DAIT, VRC), Vaccine Treatment and Evaluation Unit (VTEU), HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN), HIV Prevention Network (HPTN), and the Human Immunology Project Consortium (HIPC). With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, she has been a sub-investigator for several Phase 1 through Phase 3 Covid-19 therapeutics and vaccine trials.
