Nathan Wiederhold is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. He also serves as the Director of the Fungus Testing Laboratory, an academic reference mycology laboratory for clinical diagnostic testing. Dr. Wiederhold is also highly involved in pre-clinical studies of antifungal agents and assays for the diagnosis of invasive fungal infections, and currently serves as a Co-Principal Investigator on NIH/NIAID contracts that provide in vitro and in vivo pre-clinical resources to the research community for the evaluation of novel antibiotic and antifungal agents. In addition to his clinical and research responsibilities, Dr. Wiederhold serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and is on the editorial board for Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy. He is also a member of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) Antifungal Susceptibility Subcommittee.
