Nicole Robertson,MPH is a second-year medical student at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Before entering medical school, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and Biology at the University of Louisville and Master of Public Health degree with a focus in global epidemiology and biostatistics at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. Her interest in public health stemmed from growing up an underserved community in Kentucky and participating in the NIH Minority Health International Research Training Program in Uganda. Nicole’s prior work has included post-TB lung disease respiratory function and quality of life, illness representations and urban-rural disparities of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Uganda, patient COPD education and knowledge in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), epigenetic changes in respiratory health in LMICs, and cancer screening practices in Uganda and Appalachia. Her research interests include the intersection between communicable and non-communicable disease, chronic respiratory diseases, underserved populations, and rural health.
