Nadia Eritrea Hoekstra, MD is a third year pediatric resident at the University of Colorado. Nadia mostly grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where much of her family still lives. She graduated from Boston College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Hispanic Studies. After undergraduate she spent two years conducting biomedical research at the Yale University School of Medicine. She then spent one year as a clinical assistant for a gastroenterology practice before starting medical school. She graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2018 with a scholarly concentration in Medical Education. Nadia completed her intern year in pediatrics at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh before transferring to the University of Colorado to be with her fiance. As a resident at the University of Colorado, Nadia is an active member of the Pediatric Residency Global Health Track. She is also one of the Co-Presidents of the Diversity in Pediatrics Committee, a resident-lead organization that promotes and supports diversity, equity and inclusion in the residency program. Nadia plans to pursue a career in Pediatric Pulmonology and Global Health.
