Jacob T. Kilgore, MD, MPH, obtained his medical degree from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine (MU-JCESOM). He stayed at Marshall to complete a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency, acting as chief resident for both the Internal Medicine and Med-Peds programs. He then completed a Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship at Duke University, where he remains as associate clinical faculty. During fellowship, Jacob completed a Master's in Public Health (MPH) in epidemiology at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Gillings School of Global Public Health and was funded by a combined Duke-UNC NIH T32 training grant (T32-AI007062-40, JW Sleasman, PI) as part of his clinical fellowship research. In addition to his current Peds ID faculty appointment, Jacob was chosen as the inaugural Duke University Health System Graduate Medical Education Chief Resident in Quality & Safety. His role involves active engagement of all GME trainees in quality improvement work while being a liaison for GME trainees within the greater Duke Quality system. His ongoing research efforts involve a collaborative between Marshall and Duke Universities focusing on outpatient antibiotic stewardship in the West Virginia pediatric population.
