Lisa A Spacek, MD, PhD is Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of the Ambulatory HIV Care Program for Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. She completed her MD and PhD in Public Health at Ohio State University in 1997. From 1997 to 2009, she served her Internal Medicine residency, Infectious Diseases fellowship, and was Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University. She provides HIV care for patients in Center City Philadelphia. The study of delayed HIV diagnoses that she conducted with Dr Kathleen A Brady and Ms Dana Higgins was an opportunity to explore the characteristics of those people in Philadelphia whose HIV care is complicated by opportunistic infections and whose risk of death despite linkage to care, retention in care, and viral suppression, is significantly increased.
