Dr. Travis B. Nielsen earned his PhD in Medical Biology under the mentorship of Dr. Brad Spellberg in the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Their research focuses on translating non-traditional therapies to combat antimicrobial-resistant infections, particularly through immunomodulation and biologic therapeutics. Dr. Nielsen recently received IDSA’s 2020 GERM award for his antimicrobial stewardship work under the mentorship of Dr. Fritzie Albarillo in the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago where he is currently an MD/MPH student. Upon graduating in 2023, he plans to complete a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Infections Diseases.
