I'm Luke Malik, PharmD, an infectious diseases pharmacy resident at UnityPoint Health - Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. My research has so far focused on antibiotic prescribing at hospital discharge and beta-lactam allergies. I also enjoy contributing to quality improvement and antimicrobial stewardship at our facility. These projects include working on implementing a flowchart for the use of dalbavancin for management of SSTIs in certain at-risk patient populations in the emergency department, providing education on COVID and the use of remdesivir with a team of pharmacists to hospital staff, vaccine formulary updates and hospital/clinic implementation, and even improving rabies post-exposure prophylaxis procedures among others. I thoroughly enjoy the opportnuity to help our healthcare teams address infectious disease cases and look forward to continuing to improve patient care.
