I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Adams State University. I then attended graduate school at Texas Tech University earning my Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry. My research focused primarily on plant microbe interactions and molecular biology of cellular communication. After graduation, I worked as lab coordinator and visiting assistant professor of Chemistry and Organic Chemistry at Texas Tech University for three years. I currently work at Wayland Baptist University Lubbock as Science Director and Professor. My teaching duties over that last 15 years have included classes required by pre-nursing students such as chemistry, biology, and microbiology. While teaching, I have worked as the Chief Science Officer for Infection Controls Inc/GermBlast for the last 10 years. My duties consist of managing the scientific function of the company including client and staff trainings along with the implementation and oversight of research projects. I maintain awareness on technological advances and industry trends while making recommendations on current developments and strategies. My primary research focus is on evaluating the effectiveness of new technologies in controlling microbial growth in the environment.
