Drew Bell (PhD, M(ASCP)) is currently a second year Medical and Public Health Microbiology Fellow at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his doctorate at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he studied the role of alternate peptidoglycan crosslinking enzymes in P. aeruginosa. While pursuing basic research, he realized that clinical laboratories had an urgent need for molecular biology expertise and became involved in the Clinical Microbiology lab. His current research interests are primarily in molecular diagnostics and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
