Dr. Jaime E. Fergie is Director of Pediatric Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiologist at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Dr. Fergie is the medical director of the Global Institute for Hispanic Health. He has an appointment as Professor (Affiliated) of Pediatrics at Texas A&M University College of Medicine and Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. He received his medical degree from Caracas Central University of Venezuela. He did his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. He completed an infectious diseases fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center. After finishing his training, he became a consultant in pediatric infectious diseases at Trinity Teaching Medical Center in Caracas, Venezuela. Dr. Fergie is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases and is a fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. He is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society and the European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He is past chair of the Infectious Diseases Committee of the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Fergie served from 2004 until 2009 in the executive committee of the Nueces County Medical Society. He was a member of the Section of Infectious Diseases Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Fergie served as member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee of the Department of Health and Humans Services from February 2005 until June 2009. D
