Dr. McLaughlin is a resident of Wayne, PA (a northern suburb of Philadelphia) and is currently the Global Lead Epidemiologist for pipeline vaccines at Pfizer. He joined Pfizer as an epidemiologist and outcomes research scientist in October 2010. He has more than 10 years’ experience as an epidemiologist, most of which are in the pharmaceutical industry. At Pfizer he has held a variety of roles with increasing scope and responsibility as part of clinical epidemiology, clinical development, medical affairs, and HEOR organizations. He has supported a large portfolio of products and therapeutic areas, focusing mainly on Phase IV studies, population-based epidemiological studies, outcomes and comparative effectiveness research, pharmacoeconomic modeling, quality-improvement initiatives, and real-world data analytics.
Prior to joining Pfizer, Dr. McLaughlin served as an epidemiologist at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center for four years where he played an important role in several NCI-funded population cancer research studies. In addition, as part of his role at Ohio State, he served as a liaison to the Ohio Department of Health and the local division of the American Cancer Society. During that time, Dr. McLaughlin also served as a consulting epidemiologist for Informagenics, LLC, a Columbus-based contract research organization that provided data analytic and health outcomes research support to several large pharmaceutical companies.
